Florida District 1 Umpires 2023 Regional Assignments

With the Southeast Regional Tournaments wrapping up and World Series beginning, three of our umpires return home having successfully represented the District in their respective tournaments.

Mike Bellino (Freeport LL) travelled to Warner Robins, GA for the Little League Majors Softball Regional. Mike was selected to be the second base umpire for the Championship Game. The team from Pitt County Little League in North Carolina won the regional and made it all the way to the Championship game where they fell to the East Team from Massapequa, NY. It was the second consecutive year we had one of our District Umpires working in this tournament with the Niceville State Champions.

Bill Vikara and Jessi Vikara (Tri-County LL) travelled to Kernersville, NC for the Intermediate Baseball Regional. Bill was selected to be the plate umpire and Jessi was selected to be the third base umpire in the Championship game. The team from Keystone Little League in Tampa won the tournament and went on to win the US Championship. Some history was also made during the tournament as Presley Bromberg (Keystone LL), threw a perfect game in the Championship and this marked the first husband and wife team to work the same Southeast Regional Tournament at the same time.

Congratulations to our umpires for receiving these assignments and performing well!

If you or someone you know is interested in working some of these higher-level tournaments, reach out to your local Umpire in Chief or any Board Member!
